Know Exactly What To Do, And When.

Star Map gives you the coordinates — and the counselor. A self-paced college planning course with live Q&A access to Robin Colt, covering every stage from freshman year through move-in day.

Hi, I'm Robin Colt, founder of Robin Colt College Consulting and a UCLA-trained college counselor who has worked with students at schools like yours for years.

Star Map covers every stage of the college process across eight modules and more than forty lessons. But it's built around one central idea: your application is a constellation. Your grades, activities, essays, and recommendations are individual stars — and the work of this course is learning how to connect them into a single, coherent picture that admissions readers can recognize and remember.

That connecting thread is called your throughline. Finding yours is where we start.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

Most families don't know where to start — or what comes next.

The college process spans four years and involves dozens of decisions: courses, testing, activities, essays, applications, and financial aid. Most students figure it out as they go, which means missed opportunities and last-minute scrambles.

Star Map gives students and families a clear sequence from the beginning — so nothing falls through the cracks, and no deadline catches you off guard.

INSIDE THE COURSE

Eight modules. Every stage of the process.

Star Map covers the full arc of college planning across 8 modules and 5 hours of video. Each module includes a student guidebook, exercises, and clear action steps.

Star Map Course FAQs

  • Star Map is most valuable for students in 9th through 11th grade. Seniors can still benefit, particularly from the essay, application, financial aid, and decisions modules.

  • The course is designed to be taken in sequence, but each module stands on its own. Module 8 highlights special topics, meant to personalize your journey. Complete the lessons that are relevant to you.

  • No. All three sessions are recorded and available to every enrollee. Attending live means you can ask questions in real time, but the recordings cover everything discussed.

  • Star Map gives you the framework, vocabulary, and plan. For students who want one-on-one support with essays, college list decisions, or application strategy, Robin's individual consulting packages are available separately.

  • Most families work through it over a full academic year, revisiting modules as they become relevant. Each lesson is designed to be watched in a single sitting and returned to as needed.
